Museums and collections of major international importance are to be found at the University of Birmingham. Besides the priceless Old Masters and Impressionist masterpieces of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the campus and its buildings are also adorned by an outstanding collection of modern and contemporary paintings, murals and sculpture.
There are also the seasonal glories of Winterbourne Botanic Garden and the historical and geologically important minerals and fossils in the Lapworth Museum, and the varied collection of illuminated manuscripts, rare books and archives in the Special Collections.
The University Collections also comprise the Danford Collection of West African Art and Artefacts, the Medical School collections of anatomical specimens and medical waxes, the Physics School historic physics instruments, and collections in the Schools of Ancient History and Archaeology and Biosciences. We hope you will take the opportunity to explore the wide variety of treasures housed in our museums and collections.
